We can learn a lot from the Sea, don’t you think?
During my recent wonderful trip to Puglia, Italy, I had the opportunity to swim in the Mediterranean Sea, even on a day with strong winds and huge waves. This personal experience with the Sea inspired me to share a few insights in this newsletter.
What comes to my mind by thinking of the Sea is:
The waves come up and go down. Everything in life is like that: up and down. Nothing ever stays up on top or is always down. Even people with great success, riches, and fame have ups and downs.
It’s a philosophical way of looking at life: relaxing with the ups and downs.
It’s much easier said than done, though 😉
Where are you in the Sea of Life?
Take a moment now and tune into yourself: where are you in your life?
Are you on top of the wave, going up, coming down, overwhelmed by the Sea, or in the backwash at the shore?
Not to be totally down when you’re in the moment of the valley of the wave or while being bumped around by the wave or lying in the backwash, but knowing that it will change again is an art that often comes with life experience. But sometimes, life experiences make you too scared to try again.
Negotiating the Waves in the Sea
The therapeutic methods I know have the power to transform fear into courage, and uncertainty into a sense of direction. If you’re feeling hesitant to embrace life again, let me guide you through this transformation.
Together, we can achieve a deep sense of relaxation through work with the nervous system.

“Resistance is futile,”
As the BORG said in the television series Star Trek: Voyager 😉
When that big wave comes into your life, for example, the loss of a loved one, human or animal, an involuntary change of jobs, a severe disease, or a forced move to a new place, it’s pretty natural to first say “NO” to it.
At the same time, this will make it worse because the wave is stronger than you. It will take you, throw you over and around, even break something in you or maybe drown you! So what is it you can do?
Three options to be with the Waves in the Sea
- If there is resistance, make it so that it’s the least worse by standing sideways in the wave!
- Dive into the wave and through it.
- If you’re adventurous, take and surf the wave; use it to propel you to new places!
Taking these metaphors into our day-to-day lives,
Like for example, with disease:
1) Resisting as little as possible the wave:
Instead of ruminating and worrying about what will happen, being with the sick body lovingly and consciously while supporting it with whatever helps most. (Tapping, loving-kindness and body awareness, acupressure, massage)
2) Diving into and through the wave
by allowing yourself to feel physically and emotionally all that is involved in this disease. (Body awareness, loving-kindness, working with the nervous system, tapping, Reiki, touch, acupressure)
3) Surfing the wave:
Permitting yourself to be taken by whatever is there physically and emotionally and being very present to all of it. Not resisting being taken to new places and being open to changes. (Body awareness, being present in your body and with your emotions, tapping, meditation, touch and acupressure, working with the nervous system)
Having someone by your side …
Each of these approaches presents its own set of challenges, but you don’t have to face them alone. I’m here to assist you, offering my support and guidance. I’m also suggesting specific methods for each scenario, and I’ll be there to accompany you every step of the way.
For the first scenario, less resistance
I especially recommend Tapping. It doesn’t negate what is there but helps you to absorb the resistance and transform it into an even flow of energy in your body and mind. Loving-Kindness-Meditation is also great in this situation.
For the second scenario, diving into and through the wave
which means facing all there is, I have different ways to help you go through that.
Let’s get on a discovery call to discuss it with me.
And for the last scenario: Surfing the wave,
which is so scary because we don’t know where it will bring us!
Are we going to crash on coral reefs, or are we going to be washed up on the sand beach, or are we going to get back into the Sea by just riding the wave long enough to allow its force to weaken?
I have different therapeutical and coaching methods to help you negotiate the wave and land where you are safe and get back into the Sea of life with its ups and downs.
Let’s talk and see if and how I can help you with this Discovery call.
Do you feel like a giant wave has crashed you?
And last but not least, maybe you feel like a colossal wave has left you with severe damage?
Then, the work of trauma resolution is appropriate. If you want to have a taste of what that looks like, please contact me for a 50% discount session to see and feel how this is for you.
